This week we had an online careers session, highlighting things such as CV’s and cover letters, as well as AUB Graduate Attributes, which I found interesting and helpful to use in the future as they are specific to creative degrees. “specialist technical skills”, “creative thinking”, “Adaptability”, “Digital & Visual literacy” and “Cultural awareness”.
I carried on laying the foundations for my website this week, by selecting all of my past work that I’d want to include in my portfolio, as well as working out a colour palette that I’d like to use for all of my personal branding to keep it consistent and presentable as a collective of work, especially for this hand-in.
This week I also worked on my personal branding logo. I created this in Adobe Illustrator using the 3D design tool. I used the green from my colour palette and wanted to create a balloon-like effect for my logo. I'm not sure whether I'll keep this logo or if I'll change it in the future, however I believe it is a good start and baseline for my personal branding going forwards.
At the end of the week my tutor told me that a 3rd year – Ed – was looking for interns to help them run their non-profit organisation “Salvage Collective”. I went in to speak to Ed to get the gist of what they wanted help with – and graphic design/illustration and social media content creation was one of the main things they needed help with. I eventually decided that out of all of my options, working with Salvage Collective was the one that included most of the things that I wanted to do/centred around the areas/skills that I wanted to improve the most.
